Samburu, Ol Pejeta and Diani Combination
Safari Summary
Eight days that move from the highlands to the dry north and finish on the Indian Ocean. Ol Pejeta Conservancy offers rhino encounters and a chimpanzee sanctuary. Samburu brings the Special Five, species you will not see in the Mara. Then the safari ends with three unhurried days on the white sands of Diani.
It suits couples and families who want variety, a mix of big-cat and rare-species viewing, and a proper rest at the end.
Highlights
- Rhino encounters at Ol Pejeta Conservancy
- Samburu Special Five: Grevy zebra, gerenuk and more
- Game drives and a night drive on private conservancy land
- Boat or village visit on the Ewaso Nyiro River
- Three nights on Diani Beach
- Dolphin and snorkel trip to Kisite Marine Park (optional)
Itinerary
Drive north past Mount Kenya, crossing the equator before arriving at Ol Pejeta Conservancy. After lunch, visit the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary and take an evening game drive.
Morning and afternoon drives to look for black and white rhino, lion and elephant. An optional night drive or a walk with an armed ranger can be arranged at extra cost.
Travel north into drier, more rugged country. Cross into Samburu National Reserve for a late-afternoon drive along the Ewaso Nyiro River.
Search for the Special Five: reticulated giraffe, Grevy zebra, Somali ostrich, gerenuk and beisa oryx. Leopard and large elephant herds are regular sightings along the riverbank.
A morning drive, then transfer to the airstrip for flights via Nairobi to Ukunda. Arrive at your beach resort in time for a sundowner on the sand.
Swim, snorkel or simply rest. The resort has a spa, a pool and water-sports on the beach.
An optional full-day dhow trip to Wasini Island and Kisite Marine Park for snorkelling and dolphin spotting, followed by a seafood lunch on the island.
Breakfast and a private transfer to Ukunda airstrip for your onward flight.
